Hi, All!
I'm just getting ready to hang up the modem and go riding and I thought I'd just see who else out there is into this sport. I was a big BMX racer in the late 70's early 80's and I guess Mt. Biking was the natural progression. I live in Charlotte, NC, and we have about half-a-dozen good places to ride around town. It's definitely not a sport for the faint of heart: I broke my collarbone back in January while doing it. I highly recommend it though for the exercise and the stress relief.

So, how about it, any other mt. bikers out there?

Well, I figured I'd get the first response, but.. I'm not a mountain bike rider.. I used to ride a bike all the time some years ago, but not anymore.. I'm too much into cars these days.. It was fun though... I did always want one of those mountain bikes, though.. 18 Speeds! Yeah! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Nah, never actually delved into the mountain bike thing. I did ride with mountain bikers once through a short trail on a 12 speed road bike (ya know, the ones with the real thin tires). They were as confused as me as to how in the hell I made it through...I simply replied, skillz....lol. Although, the tires were all f'd up when we got through http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/frown.gif

I USED to have a mountain bike! I loved that bike. It was a burgundy color with a black spatter design, 21 speed. I miss that bike http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/frown.gif had to sell it when my husband got hurt at work. Real shame our bikes were worth $1000.00 and we sold them both for $200.00 http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/frown.gif

For some reason, mt. bikers seem to be scarce. I guess it's too much of a full-contact, rough sport for most people. I've got a crooked collarbone to evidence that! I still love it though, it's hard to think about work or anything else when you're trying to keep from running into rocks and trees! You're a little behind the times, Sal. Mt. bikes now have 24 speeds (like mine) and the newer ones have 27 speeds. I ride a full-suspension Schwinn and I love it. I've been riding now for about 5 or 6 years and don't plan on letting up! Blaziegirl, that's too bad you had to sell your bikes but somtimes you do what you gotta do. I was just curious if anyone else out there likes to ride the ragged edge of disaster!

I can't ride a bike to save my soul!!!!! But I'm huge on the ramps, on my blades and my board... I luv to street ramp, its funny when you pull a skid on the hood of a yellow cab in mid-town Mahattan... but then again... I'm so very bad!

I've never had a chance to do the blades or boards since I grew up on the farm and they don't work well in dirt! I love watching the X-Games and stuff on ESPN though when they show that stuff. I think Tony Hawk is so cool! I did used to ride my BMX bike at one of the skate parks in Winston-Salem, NC, back in the 80's and catch some wicked air on the half-pipe! Boy, I was a lot braver (or a lot crazier) in those days! So, Tydestra, have you got any cool pics of you doing tricks on top of yellow cabs in NYC?
