Didja know that Duran Duran was formed in 1978 by Nick Rhodes and John Taylor?
They got their name from a 1968 movie starring Jane Fonda called Barbarella.
Simon Le Bon joined the band in May of 1980.
I'm sure there are bigger fans than I who can give us more info on D2 than I could look up in one night! ;) What do you have, Stacy? ;)

Val! You know I have plenty of information for this band. :D
Nick Rhodes, Simon Le Bon, & Roger Taylor did a side project called Arcadia.
Andy Taylor and John Taylor did a side project called The Powerstation.
Andy Taylor left Duran Duran in 1985, but recently rejoined the group for the new album due out this year.
The guitarist that replaced Andy was Warren Cuccurillo who used to play with Missing Persons.
John Taylor has also had solo projects and dabbled in acting with appearances in movies such as The Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas.
Nick Rhodes had a book out in the '80's called Interference which was a book of his photography work. (If I remember correctly.)
Okay, I will stop now to give others a chance. ;)

In the "did we really need to know that" department (but hey, this is trivia!) Andy Warhol singled out Duran Duran as a band whose videos he enjoyed viewing while engaging in self-pleasure.

Stephen "Tin Tin" Duffy was an original member of Duran Duran, but left the group to pursue his own career, which ended up being less-than-stellar!
Due to their overwhelming popularity with teenaged girls, the press dubbed them the Fab Five, after the Beatle's Fab Four moniker.

Oh I just couldn't resist...
1. Simon John Charles LeBon is not the original singer of Duran Duran
2. Nick Rhodes is not Nick Rhodes. He's Nicholas James Bates
3. John Nigel Taylor dated 80's singer Jody Watley
4. Andy Taylor took his wife's name of Wilson, thus becoming Andrew Wilson Taylor

Stephen Duffy was a popular remixer in the late 90's and he's finally coming into fame for himself as a co-writer and producer for Robbie Williams.
