View Full Version : Yngwie
This story is still developing so there are a lot of missing pieces and unaswered questions. Here is what I know (in chrnological order):
Yngwie's drummer has two broken fingers and has been playing on tour against doctors orders. He is from New York City, so when the tour went there, they did not book a hotel room for him. The reason given was that he could drive two hours and stay with family members free. When the tour went to Toronto, Canada, the tour manager didn't get the singer's visa done in time. So, they performed as a 3piece band without a singer.
Apparently, things came to a head following the Cleveland, Ohio show on April 8. Their was a pretty big dispute backstage that forced security to call the police. As a result, vocalist Jorn Lande has quit the band. And, out of loyalty to his friend, so has drummer John Macaluso. This has caused the cancellation of shows from April 10-16. Also, neither performer has been payed for the last couple of weeks. More details to come.
Now for the speculative part, possible replacements are Barriemore Barlow on drums and Jeff Scott Soto on vocals. Both of these 'replacements' are original Rising Force members. For longtime Yngwie fans, this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

It is official, Jeff Scott Soto is in. He was the original singer for Yngwie when they were billed as 'Yngwie Malmsteens Rising Force'. Many believe he was the best vocalist Yngwie had.

I just read on a relyable site that Mr Malmsteen has cancelled the remainder of his US tour. The reason given was his inability to find a drummer who could play the entire song list. They plan on rescheduling the remaining dates later in teh fall.

Thanks, Tina. Jasper is right. They have cancelled the rest of their US tour. I posted the news about Jeff Scott Soto prematurely. He is in another band and has commitments with them. They have not yet cancelled their European Tour. Jeff would only be able to make part of that portion of the tour. They have talked to Mark Boals and another singer (can't remember his name). But, its still up in the air. No word on a drummer at all.

No. I guess I should have said that his North American Tour has been indefinitely postponed. What I mean is, he wants to make up those dates later in the year. Right now his focus is finding suitable replacements and fulfilling the remaining dates of his tour. If he can accomplish that, then he'll recross the Atlantic and complete the tour here.

You may get your wish after all, Amy. Yngwie and former singer Mark Boals are negotiating for him to sing on their upcoming European and Japanese tours. If that works out, they will come back to North America to make up at least some of the dates they cancelled.
