Duff McKagan (ex-GnR) will release 'Loaded' on July 11.
Mr. Big's new cd will be released Aug. 8.
Sebastian Bach (ex-Skid Row) has a solo cd to be released on Aug. 21.
Alice Cooper's new cd, Dragon town, will be released Sept. 4.
Has Reb Beach officially left Dokken? He has already stated that he will not appear on Dokken's next cd. He is finishing up work on his solo cd and is planning a promo tour of Japan. Plus, Kip Winger is trying to put together a full blown Winger reunion, which would include a new cd (probably a greatest hits package) and tour. There is talks between Kip and Reb about Reb's participation in that reunion.
Bon Jovi's next studio cd is tentatively due out eary next year. They are planning to release a box set in 2003 in conjunction with their 20th anniversary.
Since there appears to be nothing happenning in the VH camp this year, David Lee Roth has decided to go on tour. So far, there are only a couple of dates planned but more will be added. The word is that he is just trying to keep himself busy and in shape, this in no way jeopardizes a Van Halen reunion with him!
Sammy Hagar has a new DVD due out on Aug.7.
Cinderella have 25 to 30 songs in the demo stages. A new cd could be released as early as the end of this year.
Rush's new cd is tentatively scheduled for release early next year.
The Def Leppard movie will debut on VH-1 on July 18. The band has several songs written and are working in Joe Elliot's private studio. Hopefully, we will get a new cd from them early next year.
Queensryche are doing a summer US tour which they will be recording for a live cd. They plan on playing older or rarely played live songs more on this tour.
2 must haves for fans of 80s rock rarities:
David Glen Eisley (ex-Giuffria, ex-Dirty White Boys) is releasing a cd called 'The Lost Tapes' in late August. The cd will feature several songs recorded for the third Giuffria album that never happened. Other songs were recorded when he was singing for Dirty White Boy but were also never released.
The Badlands debut cd has been remastered and will be released on June 26. At that time the band featured the late Ray Gillen on vocals, Jake E. Lee on guitar (ex-Ozzy), Eric Singer on drums (KISS, Alice Cooper), and Greg Chaisson on bass. It was a killer album tht never got its rightful recognition!
Styx and Blue Oyster Cult both just released new cd's.
There is a whole lot more going on and just not enough time to type it all in here. For example, the Judas Priest website has 3 mp3s of songs off of their new cd. Journey's new singer is getting rave reviews for his performances on their newly started major tour. Stephen Pearcy (ex-Ratt) has pushed back the release of his solo cd, no reason given. Megadeth's new cd, The World Needs A Hero, debuted at #9 on Billboard's Music Charts. Look for possible releases from Survivor and Night Ranger. And Faster Pussycat has or is about to release 'Between the Valley of the Ultra P*ssy' which features new versions of their hits plus a cover of a Kiss song. They plan to tour this summer as well.
I'll try to update more at the beginning of next week.
