In an announcement that sent fear into the hearts of guitar-store managers nation-wide, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai have announced that they will be hitting the road together this summer in a new incarnation of Satriani's G3 Tour. John Petrucci of Dream Theater will be along for the string-scorching ride as well.

All three Guitar Gods will play short solo sets, and will then unite, Voltron style, for an all-star three guitar wankfest of what is sure to be epic proportions. Is the world ready for this much technically proficient shredding all together at one scale-ascending time? No-one knows. Also unclear is how mega-chain music-equipment store Mars Music will stay in business when every single one of their employees asks for the same night off.
