"All the little chicks with the crimson lips go Cleveland Rocks!"

No, I haven't been watching Drew Carey, but I did visit Cleveland this last weekend. Ostensibly to see Cirque du Soleil, but we did the Cleveland thing too.

We drove up Friday night and right when we got there, my husband realized he had left the Cirque tickets on his desk at work. OH SHIT!!!

However, because he used a credit card and had that card and proper ID, we were able to get duplicate tickets. (That was the ONLY setback the whole weekend, and it was EASILY solved.

We had dinner at the Cleveland Chophouse and Brewery......Awesome steaks and microbrew. Then back to the hotel where we got a movie and hit the sack around 11:30.

Saturday morning....Up at 7:30 because there are firetrucks making a ruckus down on the street outside our window. Never found out what that was all about. :uhoh:

Continental breakfast, giftshop for a sweatshirt (I forgot to take a jacket....silly me), then down to the pier. It's pretty awesome to look out at Lake Erie and know that on the other side is another country. :) When we got down to the pier, we realized that the "Race for the Cure" was going on when we were surrounded by thousands of runners. That was pretty cool. :thumb: It kind of put a lump in my throat because my grandmother is a 20 year survivor of breast cancer.

From there we hit the Great Lakes Science Center and played with all the neat stuff there. Then, the real reason we had gone down to the pier. *drum roll, Taz* THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!!! Very cool! Right now they have an awesome John Lennon exibit that takes up two whole floors. I was disappointed that they didn't have any Def Leppard memorabilia, or at least I didn't see any. But they did have: Brittney Spears, N'SYNC, Hansen, and Eminem. Eeeeww! The B-52's had a whole wall, as did Duran Duran. :D Also, there was lots and lots of stuff donated by Jim Morrison's parents..including school photos, and even school report cards.

Okay, lunch at the Key West Cafe in the Galleria and then a little shopping. I got some new tennis shoes because I conveniently forgot mine :D and my boots were killing my feet by now. Greg found a pair of rockport boots for 50% off. That was pretty awesome. Then back to the hotel for a quick nap.

Greg also needed a jacket, so around 4:00 we went to Tower City and found him a really nice light jacket at Brooks Brothers and of course I hit The Body Shop (nut scrub) and the Hard Rock Cafe for my bear collection. Then back to the hotel to drop off the loot and caught a cab to the flats.

We went to the Will Call box and picked up our tickets and then hit the Rock Bottom Brewery. They have a really nice Pale Ale there. We hung out there for about an hour then back over to the Cirque. You're supposed to get there an hour ahead of time because they have stuff going on even then.

Greg bought VIP tickets, so there were hors d' ovres and champagne. :D Then the Cirque. It was sooooo awesome! I am now a Cirque addict. I want to see all the shows. At intermission, they served coffee and dessert. As soon as we walked into the tent, they were there with chocolated covered strawberries. Divine! The coffee had a light hazelnut flavor and they had almond biscotti. At the end of the show we went back to the VIP tent, and there were gifts. We each got a framed photo of one of the performing teams. Ours were of the Visa Versa team (Human Statues). They are really cool.

Following the Cirque, we popped over to the Improv. We caught Jeremy Hotz. I laughed so hard I was crying. And he wouldn't let up on me either. My ribs were hurting but that show was awesome. We were sitting right in front of the stage, and he asked us where we were from. We both just froze, who wants to tell a comedian that they live in West Virginia? We finally quit laughing enough to tell him, and then we caught a lot of flak. LOL

Okay, Sunday morning. We got on the road back home around 9:30, and I called Val and set up a meeting with her and TC. We met for lunch in Wheeling, WV. I made a few stops before finally finding the correct place, and I recognized TC immediately, though she didn't recognize me because my hair is no longer blonde and I cut it short last Thursday. LOL We had a great time and talked for about 4 hours. We three will definitely be getting together again soon. There is a pic of us posted in the Then and Now forum.

Val and TC....Love you guys I had a fabulous weekend!

Hey jen* I'm going over to Cleveland in a few weeks to visit some friends. I went there about 2 years ago, and it was great. That John Lennon Exhibit has been up since 2000. When I went they had the opening the night before, and I missed seeing Yoko Ono. *shudder* Did you see the part of the exhibit where they show his glasses he was wearing when he was killed. It still had the blood on them. I almost lost it when I saw that. My friend had to leave, because she got really upset.
This time my friends and I are just going shopping. And we might go see "Tony and Tina's Wedding", but that's still up in the air.

Oh and Jen* if you're going to a comedy club NEVER sit in the three rows or you're going to get picked on by the comedians. :) I learned that the hard way once in Boston.

Pagan :tsk: Nut Scrub is a body wash with ground nut shells in it. It smells wonderful and makes your body feel nice and smooth. :p

Molly.....that was where the hostess sat us. I had a blast though.

Oh, and John Lennon's glasses. Greg said, "That's really morbid."

Sounds like you had a great time! I have really wanted to go to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, but i'm going to wait about 10 years. I want some of my favorite 80's artist to get inducted first. ;)

I loved reading about your exciting time in Cleveland, jen*!!! I don't blame you for not wanting to tell the comedian you lived in WV!!! ;)

She was great, peeps! You really missed it! :p Na na na na na! We were having a blast! We talked about the bugs in Louisiana, the bugs in our areas, the Bugs in New York....;)

And we were talking about how great it'd be to get everyone to a centralized location for the Xchange party! :)

One day, we're gonna do this again when we have more time to just visit and have a few beers and such! No Bud Light!! I don't know why, but that's what Jen said, and she's da boss! ;)

:) Great people, Jen and Greg, and I don't care where the heck they live! :)

Hee Hee! Actually, I've been quite a traveller since I met and married Greg. It just seems moreso since I moved up here.

Val, that NO Bud Light thing was because I'm so predictible that I decided I would have anything but that on this trip. So it was microbrews or Bass Ale for me over the weekend.
