Did you know that Journey was formed by Neil Schon, Gregg Rolie, and Ross Valory?

Neil Schon was a 15 year-old prodigy who was asked to join both Santana and Eric Clapton's band in the same day! (This is interesting!)

Steve Augeri is actually Journey's third lead singer, because before Steve Perry there was a man named Robert Fleischman.

What do you know about 'em? :)

*For the first three Journey albums Neal Schon took on lead vocal duties along with then keyboard player Gregg Rolie (former lead singer of Santana and co-founding member of Journey).

*New Journey lead singer, Steve Augeri was the former lead singer for Tall Stories.

*New Journey drummer, Deen Castronovo has played drums for Ted Nugent, Steve Vai, Ozzy Osbourne, and Bad English among others.

*Journey's 18th album release is 2001's ARRIVAL. There is also a DVD of Journey's 2001 live concert from Las Vegas available in stores that is very good.

One of Journey's early drummers, Aynsley Dunbar, has played on all sorts of projects with the likes of Frank Zappa, Jeff Beck, John Mayall, and others. By way of an early band of his, Dunbar has a co-writing credit for a song Black Sabbath covered on their debut album ("Warning").

Steve Perry was in a group called Alien Project when he was first discovered.

The album 'Escape' which included the hits "Who's Crying Now?" and "Open Arms" has sold nine million copies.

Neil Schon and Jonathan Cain in the late 80's went on and formed the group Bad English with singer John Waite.

Robert Flieschman was also the original lead singer for Vinnie Vincent Invasion.

Aynsley Dunbar was the drummer heard on the WHITESNAKE album that featured STILL OF THE NIGHT and HERE I GO AGAIN.

Niel Schon was in a project with Sammy Hagar called H.S.A.S. and put out one album.

Neal Schon had his own guitar line, albeit briefly. I actually owned one of these and I wish I had it back. Not my kind of guitar but there is collector value:

AND he was in a side project with Jan Hammer (of Miami Vice fame) and they released one album with a top 40 hit "No more lies"

* In 1980 Journey put out a little known album called Dream After Dream which was primarily an instrumental effort with very little vocals
* Randy Jackson (American Idol judge) played bass for Journey on the Raised on Radio album and tour

Dunbad lasted one album with Journey, he did not like the sound and so moved on, leaving room for long time drummer Steve Smith to help form styles Journey is known for.

Neal Schon is awsome in concert !!!

I owned the HSAS tape. It was awesome!! It was the final project Sammy Hagar put out before joining Van Halen, of course he toured extensively in support of his solo album first. Anyways, The HSAS album also featured a member of The Cars, I think their drummer. This was about the time that Steve Perry released 'Street Talk' featuring the single 'Oh, Sherrie'.

Steve Perry's solo hit was the duet 'Don't Fight It' with Kenny Loggins which appeared on Kenny's 1982 'Welcome to Heartlight' album

Greg Rolie sang the vocals for Santanna's "Black Magic Woman" which was actually a cover version of a very old Fleetwood Mac song.

Jonathan Caine came to Journey from the Babies, John Waite was the lead singer of that band, so Bad English was something of a reunion.

Neal Schon had yet another side project called "Neal Schon and the Hardline"
