ImSoooSure 9-16-02, 02:46 AM Do you have any favorite quotes, poems, lyrics...? I have tons that I love and am inspired by reading. I wear a silver amulet around my neck, it's a really tiny book and when you turn these sterling silver pages it has etched, "Let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you really love" it's a quote by Rumi. I thought maybe it would be fun to post some of our favs in here.:)
This is a great idea Lisa. :) Thanks for starting this. I'll have to give it some thought and come back later. Only thing coming to mind is my favorite short story right now. Carmilla by J. Sheridan LeFanu. A :vampire: story. :)

ImSoooSure 9-24-02, 01:56 AM Take this kiss upon the brow! And in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow

That my days have been a dream
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night or in a day
In a vision or in none
Is it therefor the less gone?
All that we see or seem

William Parrish: Love is passion. Obsession. Someone you can't live without. Someone you fall head over heels for. Find someone you can love like crazy, and will love you the same way back. Listen to your heart. No sense in life without this. To make the journey without falling deeply in love, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try, because if you haven't tried, then you haven't lived.

ImSoooSure 9-25-02, 01:46 AM Good idea with the movie quote Milani... here's one of my favorites that ALWAYS makes me cry.
"It was a million tiny little things, that when you added them all up they meant we were supposed to be together...and I knew it. I knew it the very first time I touched her. It was like coming home, only to no home I'd ever known. It was just taking her hand to help her out of a car and I knew. It was like...magic." -Sleepless In Seattle

I cannot get you close enough, I said to him, pitiful as a child, and never can and never will. We cannot get from anyone else the things we need to fill the emptiness, to keep from sinking back into sand, heat, air, thinnest air. And so we revolve around each other and our dreams collide.
It is embarrassing that it should be so hard. Look out the window in any weather. We are part of that glamour, drama, change, and should not be ashamed.

(whom I'm sure I've misquoted a little, but it's mostly there)
Ted Nugent 9-25-02, 11:43 AM “Do you believe in God, Andrei?”
“No.”
“Neither do I. But that’s a favorite question of mine. An upside-down question, you know.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, if I asked people whether they believed in life, they’d never understand what I meant. It’s a bad question. It can mean so much that it really means nothing. So I ask them if they believe in God. And if they say they do — then, I know they don’t believe in life.”
“Why?”
“Because, you see, God — whatever anyone chooses to call God — is one’s highest conception of the highest possible. And whoever places his highest conception above his own possibility thinks very little of himself and his life. It’s a rare gift, you know, to feel reverence for your own life and to want the best, the greatest, the highest possible, here, now, for your very own.”
-Taken from Ayn Rand's "We The Living"

I LOVE this quote!!! ;)
Take, oh take these lips away,
That so sweetly were forsworn;

lights that di miss lead the morn.
But my kisses bring again;
Seals of love, but sealed in vain,
Sealed in vain.

by: Kingdom Come
Come to me now
I want to be your best friend for all of time
I want to be the tissue for your tears
I never want to be alone
I never really thought that I could feel
A feeling that awakened me so
I was astray of knowing where I belong
Living out of time, living out of time
(chorus)
Now that you’ve come and set me free
Now that I know what love can be
All that I want is you with me
That’s all I want
You allow me to be what I want to be
Thanks for helping me
I feel like a bright shining star
For only you to see, for only you to see
(chorus)
Now that you’ve come and set me free
Now that I know what love can be
All that I want is you with me
That’s all I want
Hold me tight, hold me tight
I won’t let you go
Close to you, close to you
Touch me, don’t let go
Give me all your love
Close to you, close to you
Give me all your love
All that I want
Is you to be with me

Yesterday morning as I was driving to work up Bay Street I saw an advertisement for matresses in the window of a large department store. It was lovely and had the soothing headline of "what dreams may come......"

Tydestra 10-23-04, 10:01 PM "The pain would leave me, I would forget you, and you would never see me again except in a dream. It is sad that the things that we saw in each other are no longer there. It is a shame that we tore each other apart looking for things that we needed deperately but couldn't decribe. It is tragic that we only wanted to give to each other but only stole from ourselves and blamed each other for the emptiness in our lives."
~Henry Rollins
You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.

bookmistres4ever 10-31-04, 05:29 PM Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
William Butler Yeats
Time is too slow for those who wait,
too swift for those who fear,
too long for those who grieve,
too short for those who rejoice,
but for those who love, time is eternity.

Look, I don't want to wax philosophic, but I will say that if you're alive you've got to flap your arms and legs, you've got to jump around a lot, for life is the very opposite of death, and therefore you must at very least think noisy and colorfully, or you're not alive.
Mel Brooks
