Where did you meet your sweetie?
Mine was a good friend of my brothers. I was working at my bros. baseball card shop with him when Bill walked in. It was pretty much love at first sight. :p

I was at my old job at Dell. One morning we were out of a certain part that goes into every laptop we were building, so instead of sitting around waiting, the supervisor decided to get everyone together for a meeting.

We went upstairs for the meeting. The supervisor said, "Since we are all here, why don't we get to know each other." He added, "Everyone say there name, what they do, how long they have been here, and something about theirselves." When it was my turn I stood up and said, "My name is Stacy, i'm a final inspector, been with the company for 3 years, and my pastimes are music and movies".

Later in the day, this guy walks up to me and says, "So, you like movies and music, huh?" I said, "yes". This guy started asking me what kind of music I liked, etc. He told me he was a musician and played guitar. We got to talking a bit. Each day from there we talked more and more. Then we went out and the rest is history. Next month on the 11th makes that we have been together for two years now. :) You guys have met him on here a time or two. He posts under "Darkside".

I´m the 'Wedding DJ'...we met first while I was DJing on the wedding of my best friends. ;)

That evening, we just talked until we finally called it quits at 5 o´clock in the morning. Then, I´ve asked her for a date by sending her a message in a bottle. Nearly came too late for this one...that evening, all odds were against me: the ATM failed so I had to look for another one, one of the traffic lights had a malfunction (waited there for over 10 minutes!). To be there in time, I had to exceed some speed limits slightly. :D

That must´ve been good omens...a few weeks later, we were together...for over 3 years now. :)

I love hearing these stories. Good topic.

I met mine at a club he was djing at. (no...it wasn't wave!!) ;) ANYWAY, he spins at a underground newwave club in nyc and I went up to him to request a song. He had a single of one my *favorite* synthpop bands ever and I was like, oh my god, I love them. He's like, yeah, they're great. So I reguested my song and went back to the dancefloor and danced for a while, forgetting that I even requested a song. Then, the song comes on......he leaves the dj booth, and comes on the dancefloor and danced with me and said..."hey, you're the girl that requested this" I was like...wow...not only did he play my song, he came down to dance with me to it (huge win in Xis's book)!!!

We clicked right away, but were both too shy to exchange #s or anything. Every week after that we kept on running into each other at diff. clubs and agreed to make cds for each other (i was so nervous, never had to make a comp for DJ!!). So, we would pass off our cd mixes to each other which, of course, were filled with all kinds of hints of how we liked each other. Anyway, we finally went on a REAL date outside of the clubs and had an amazing time. Been together for 7 months now. :)

okay...who's next?

The short answer: in a bar

With more details:
My friend and I were at a bar listening to the band playing there that night. We had two empty seats near us and my friend kept signaling for these two guys she saw across the room to come over when she thought they weren't looking. They did see her out of the corner of their eyes, but were trying to ignore her. Eventually they decided they were tired of standing and came over and sat with us.

I ended up my future husband (Bill)'s best friend, and my friend ended up dating him (Bill). Shortly after we met 'tho I moved away for about a year and a half. Bill dated my friend long enough to get my address out of her, and we wrote for a few months, then lost contact.

Shortly before I moved back Bill ran into my friend again and found out I was coming back. He gave me almost a week after returning, then called me. It took us almost two years to actually get together after that first meeting, but we've been inseperable ever since and last month celebrated our 9th anniversary.

I'll let ya know when I find a significant other...lol :p Right now I'm just actively dating...gotta get some fun outta life somewhere :) In all honesty, I'm not really looking to get into a full blown relationship just yet...school and work consume my life, so I couldn't be the kinda boyfriend I'd want to be...I aim to please at the highest level ;) :D Once I graduate in May though, I'll be on the prowl full force... :D

We met in high school.

She didn't like me much in our freshman year, she was more into dating the jocks in our school. I knew her girlfriends, and when she was unhappy with her latest jock, somewhere along the line her girlfriends were telling her more about me and what a "nice guy" I was. Eventually, she came around, we started dating and going out for four years. The people in school including some teachers always said that we would get married.

After dating for four years, we did just that, and have now been married for 27 years. They say "nice guys finish last." In my case finishing last was a big WIN!
I ran away with the prize!

This is a bit of a running theme for me.LOL.

She poured the best pint of Guinness in Toronto. Used to drop into the Toronto Irish Canadian Centre a lot (now closed) where she ran the bar. New each other for years and became good friends. Eventually, when we were both single, we just kinda fell into dating. That was back in early '94.

My husband and I met in college gym class, my freshman year, his sophomore year. It was a fencing class, so most of the time we were wearing masks. I wasn't sure what he looked like, but he was so much fun to talk to. I'd been fencing for a while, so I thought I was a big hotshot... the first thing my future husband got to see me do was show off... hehe! We were friends for almost a whole year before we started dating.

My hubby was my neighbour. He lived in the apartment right above mine. We were good friends for about two years, dated other people and then we started hanging out together. He makes me laugh like no other person I've ever known. :)
He tells me all the time that he was dating my chest 2 months before we even started dating. Him being on the upper balcony holding conversations (me wondering why he always wanted to talk floor to floor duh! LOL) he was staring right down my top - pig! Love the guy :)

I met Wendy through the request lines at Country 98. I used to do overnights there. The company moved me to their sister station Classy 100 for a month or so. I filled in one Saturday morning at Country and got a phone call from a person I didn't know saying how glad she was to hear my voice again and that she used to love waking up to my voice. We ended up talking for a while and I invited her to a club I DJed at (line dancing)(no, I don't line dance :)) She never showed, I didn't think anything of it. A few weeks later I filled in again and she called again. I invited her out again and this time she showed up! We've been dating ever since! We were just meant for each other. I love her and her two boys (Cody and Garrett) more then life itself and could never ask for more. She likes to sing the song "I knew I loved you before I met you" to me. I, of course, sing every song known to man to her. I would suggest to never meet a person over the phone, I just happen to get lucky.

I was walking home from a football game (social night for the teens) and he and a bunch of guys just got back from cruising with my brother. We spent about three hours talking and joking around - and he went home to the house across the alley from mine!

We were friends for 2 years. We got together (technically) on Dec. 31, 1989 and moved in together a month later. Then we got married on May 21, 1992. We're getting close to the 12 year mark, and no one on this earth has ever made me feel more loved. I hope my son learns from our relationship the difference between love and lust, and that you CAN have them both.

Heh, it was such a bizarre history... :p I was in a club in a town some 30 miles away from my own. Besides 80s music, I like techno too, and that's what this club is about. I was just standing by the dancefloor, sipping a Coke and listening to house music, when this Angel appeared; the most beautiful creature I have ever seen (no kidding!). We made eye contact, and began to talk, just like if we were long time friends! She gave me her phone # - but I forgot to write it down. On the next morning all I could recall was a "3" in the beginning, and an "8" or a "5" by the end of her #... I have a terrible memory. I thought I would never see her again. On the next weekend, I went again to the very same club, and met a friend who saw her on that previous night, and happen to know her.... from brazilian Playboy magazine! So I did realize why her name was ringing a bell. From Playboy magazine I got the phone of her model agency, and by coincidence, my cousin works at the same agency - and eventually she got her phone from there. It was some year and a half ago, we are dating since then, and now we are making plans to live together!

I met my ex husband at the skating rink. It was couple skate and it was girls choice. I went over because his red hair attracted me.. and so did his cute little butt. I asked him and he smiled and said yes. I couldn't believe it.
We dated for two years and were married it was wonderful. He blessed me with two handsome boys. From time to time we go to that skating rink and I tell them the story of their father and I.

My husband and I met over a book (The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice) and a coffee pot. We were both in the Army, stationed at Ft. Riley, KS. The coffee pot was in my office so I saw him every time he needed a caffeine boost. Nothing happened in my office during the day, so I read a lot of books. One day I was reading one he recognized. The first thing he ever said to me was, "That's a great book."

We've been together for 10 years, and married for 8. :D :D :D

Well, no one to speak of now...NYC is a tough place to meet girls! :(

However, I consider my first kiss to be a quintessentially 80's moment...it was in the parking lot of a mall! We worked together at a cookie store, and became friendly. (This was 1985). We used to talk about our mutual love for the band Split Enz. Once we started dating, we went to a bunch of cool concerts, the best one being OMD. We waited outside and met the band after the show...she had them autograph her (very 80's) white hi-tops, then put clear nail polish over the signatures to preserve them! We also saw the Thompson Twins (with OMD opening!!) that same year.

Well this is a little embarassing for me to tell but here goes, We used to work out at the same gym I would always see him come in in his army fatigue BDU pants wearing cross trainers and a tank top, mmmm that daring grin those bedroom eyes and pecs that could drive any woman crazy(something about a man in uniform that drives a girl crazy)he would always come in work out for an hour then go, we never spoke though we exchanged glances many times, umm this went on for some time till one night (late night around 3am)I was at the gym alone except for the door guy I had a rough day and couldn't sleep(good thing most gyms are 24hrs) well, I saw him come in and I froze(I don't know why)he came up to me and said "HI" I must have looked like a retard just staring at him, he finally asked me if I was planning to stick around for a while and if I didn't mind spotting him, after I closed my mouth I said "sure", and we worked out together and talked for a good hour till we both were pretty tired so we hit the hot tub and just started talking about everything and we really hit it off, well when got out we really didn't know what to do next go home or stick around. About that time the door guy came up and told us he wanted to grab some food and asked if we didn't mind being here alone for about a half hour(I guess he knew my boyfriend pretty good already)and said he'd lock the place and be back, so we both said "ok". Well I knew exactly what I wanted to do then, I said I wanted to work out a little longer so he said ok, so I took him to the farthest corner and I guess he thought we were actually going to "work out" because he started setting up the bench till I grabbed him and turned him around, he was shocked because I was standind there without my top and I don't remember who made the first move but,... uummm let's just say that the equipment was never intended for the kind of use it got that night. That was 2yrs ago and we're still together now, till this day I don't know if that night was a carefully executed plan or just chance but whatever it was I'm very gratefull to whomever had a hand in it, because I wouldn't be with the love of my life if it hadn't happened.

ok, I guess I'll be the first to break the mold and say that I met him online.. in '98. We just met randomly on ICQ and started talking. Then we talked everyday since then and when we got closer, he called three times a week from Australia. Of course I got lots of picture in the beginning and even spoke with his friends and family on the phone. After two years, I convinced myself he wasn't a psycho serial killer and made the trip to Australia to see him. I stayed with him there for 6 months and had the best time of my life. We were perfect together. I had to come back alone in March but he's finally moving here next month. The past 7 months have not been the easiest ... but there's e-mails, phone calls and chats (webcam) So it's worked out and I believe our relationship we'll be stronger because of the wait. Not many new relationships can be put on hold for that long.

Pam my sister met the love of her life over the internet. She wasn't looking to met anyone and she and Mitch just hit it off. They talked for months and he had friends here so they met and it was love at first sight. That was 1997. They've been living up in the arctic for the past 4 years. Not all internet romances end in horror stories. :)

The only places to meet girls are at nightclubs at pubs, and more often than not, they'll probably start regretting what they did the night before...

I've got some serious confidence issues here.. I don't know what's wrong with me.. I'm not exactly a huge ugly hairy orangutang so why are the girls not interested in me?

I met mine at a kids camp where I was a leader. She was on the kitchen staff and I noticed her right away, because she was the only other leader my age and not only that but a real babe too.

She had this habit of turning up where I least expected during that camp. Where ever I went, there she was! Romance blossumed very quickly afterwards.

This is actually a cute story...

On April 27, 2001 at 930am, I found a personals website called webpersonals.com. So, I placed an ad. At the time, I didn't have any pics to post, so it was all text. (And hopefully, my personality!) At about 10am, I had gotten a response. It was great! It went on about his poetry that he writes, he's a computer nerd, loves walks in the rain, loves to talk about the "what-ifs", music, theater.....it just went on and on. And he included a photo. I thought he was a doll! He said that he lived in Chagrin Falls, which is only 15 minutes away from me, and kind of snobby. I just thought that he was just the type that I was looking for. So, I sent a response back, along with answers to questions that he asked me in hypothetical terms. He emailed back an hour later, and said that I sounded like someone he'd really like to talk with and could he ask for my number. I gave it to him without any hesitation. Well, he called at 5:30pm that same day, and we talked for 3 hours. He asked if we could get together the next day, and of course, playing hard to get, said yes. (*heehee*) He asked how he'd know it was me, and I told him that I would be carrying a Kate Spade bag that had a cherries print. We hung up, and I danced around the room like a crazy person.

The next day, I drove down to Chagrin to meet him in front of the falls. As I walked across the street to meet him, I spotted him...he had a red rose in his teeth and a huge smile!! I was laughing and walked right up to him and gave him a huge hug, which he returned plus some. Our first date began at 3pm on April 28, and lasted for 91/2 hours. We dated for about a month before he moved in here with me.

The rest is history.

He is the most wonderful man on the face of the earth and I am so lucky and blessed to have him in my life!!!

I can tell you one thing, on day, I'm gonna get up, act like a grownup and take care of my lovelife ! Yeah, when of these days I'm gonna wake up and start doin' stuffs. Right now I'm feelin' drowsy tho'. I've never fitted in, and never took the time to discuss over differences with a girl, too socially lazy for that, I just don't take time to know people, I mean really know ! One of these day it's gonna change..... well I'm not all too convinced myself. In fact I greatly doubt it ! I kinda care, but not enough apparently !

Met him the same night I was leaving another boy (due to his sick drug habit), cring my eyes out, I called a girlfriend of mine to come over. She said she was bring this guy she just met and had been dating for 2 weeks.

So, here I was cring on the couch, hair in a ponytail, PJ's on, when this guy walks in.....I kid you not, love at 1st sight.....I guess for him too....I got a call 2 weeks later, From him!!! I only met him that one time.

Well, he invited me to a party at his house......needless to say, I did a bad thing to a girlfriend and got together with him that night...her and I are still friends and...............

We got married 5 years later......been together now for almost 7 years.

DGS - :D :D Hello. I think we must belong to the same club. To be fair, the friend was starting something up with her brother-in-law, who is now her husband, so I can't feel too bad about it. At least, I feel better than her sister did.

Gretchen...great story, I'm glad it was Aron you met, and not some looney!

Zacros, TC is soooo correct. You are a hottie!! I can't imagine any girl in Adelaide, much less anywhere in Australia not being crazy about you. You have a great personality and as for your looks........... ;) :) ;) :) ;) :) ;) :) Whoo hoo, baby!!! You are a doll!

Well, I've yet to find the significant other It's hard to find someone in Adelaide, who doesn't drink, or smoke

Ohwell, sorry to mess up the thread

There is nothing wrong with you Zacros!! You my dear are a hottie!! You are gorgeous and your personality shines.. take it from me.
You will find that someone soon.. a gorgeous guy like you wont be alone for long!!

Awww... Frenchy! Yes... you are gonna grow up one of these days! ;) You're not getting any younger boy! just joking! ;)

I bet when you set your mind to it... you'll meet that someone special and things will be just fine ;) You have a cute (and strange) personality... some lady will figure that out!

I met my husband, Joe, 8 years ago... a friend of my ex-husband, Tom, (yes I was married at the time) was drumming in a band and asked Tom and I to come see them play..
I loved their music.. it was pretty heavy metal..Tom hated it.. it was then I realized that Tom and I didn't share ALL of our musical interests! Joe was the lead singer and guitarist.. I loved his hair and blue eyes! I flirted with him some, (harmless flirting) ;) But actually It was Tom's friend, Danny (drummer) that was attracted to me.. Tom and I had our fights... he was never home.. I (stupidly) started an affair with Danny.. and was around Joe alot at their practices.. Danny felt guilty about being with me.. broke it off to pursue another girl.. and left Joe's band.. I still loved Joe's band, so I still went to see them with friends.. and during my divorce with Tom in 95, Joe and I started um... not really dating exclusivly... but we were "spending time" ( ;) ) with each other when I would come to see his band play.. It was 60 miles to see him each time.. so I saw him maybe once a week or every other week when his band would play... and he never showed an interest in "dating" me.. just um... "spending time" with me he he heh (I know you guys get the picture)... so after about a year of that.. I finally got sick of being "used" as I put it to him.. and didn't see him for a few months.. then one day, he suprised me by driving to MY house.. something he never did.. (I always had to come to him) and told me that he wanted to try to have a relationship.. We have been together ever since! Moved in together in 97, got married this year!

Well, thanks ladies, but I certainly don't feel like I'm anything that you've said I am...
I've been alone for 21 years of my life, and i'm starting to believe that I may never find someone...
The logical part of my brain says that i'm "still young", but then the cynical part cuts in and says, "yeah, but for how long?!"

Mmmm, this board is certainly an ego booster :) hehe :ego:
*blush* Thanks!! I wish that I wasn't so far away from all the lovely ladies that frequent the board, as I'm sure we'd have fun as friends, if not couples.

I guess all I can do is wait, but I feel that whenever I look at couples enjoying each other's company it's as if a band is constricting around my heart, choking the life out of me... I guess it's just hard for me to accept the fact that anyone would like me, not to mention love me. :(

I guess something will happen, but at the moment it's hard to believe that fact. I guess when I get someone, I'll just think back and wonder what the hell I was going on about...

Trust me Zacros, you'll find the right one. You just have to stop looking. That's what happened to me. I stopped looking and there he was. I met my sweety in college. Our first date sucked and we didn't get along very well after that. In fact, I hated his guts. Things changed somehow and we've now been married for 3 years. We were both kinda rebounding when we met, especially me. Anyway, you just gotta have faith and love yourself first. Everything else will fall into place. You'll see. :D

We met in Sept. of '94 at a karaoke show. He had just started dating a friend of mine and I was still married to my ex husband. My marriage ended in '96 and his relationship ended that same year, but I was already dating someone else when he and his ex broke up. We started dating in November of '97 and got married a year later. Our son was born in January of '00.
