Rush To Make Second Sweep Through North America
Band to kick off next round of shows October 10 in Tampa, Florida.
By Jon Wiederhorn
Rush are like high school friends that you really liked, but lost track of for years. Maybe in an effort to seem cool you started hanging out with hipper kids (as Rush said in "Subdivisions," "Conform or be cast out"). Maybe, in the wake of all that followed, you simply forgot what was so cool about them in the first place.
Whatever, those willing to lower their hipster guard for a few hours and indulge in a night of complex and catchy rock have another chance. After they finish their current dates in the West, Rush will return to the East to begin another round of shows.
The first of 17 new dates kicks off on October 10 in Tampa, Florida; the last show will be in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on November 6.
Rush have been playing two 70-plus-minute sets, and in addition to performing material from their newest album, Vapor Trails, they have been rocking hits like "Limelight," "Tom Sawyer" and "Spirit of Radio." They have even opened the vaults and pulled out vintage, rarely played songs including "By-Tor and the Snow Dog," "Cygnus X-1," "Natural Science" and "Distant Early Warning" (see "Rush Descend Into Hades, Get Laundry Done At New York Show").
Vapor Trails debuted at #6 on the Billboard albums chart and has sold over 250,000 copies to date, according to SoundScan.
