I'm sure this topic has been discussed already.. but my husband just finished playing it.. and I was wondering how many of you have played it and have found it easy to beat... he finished the game in no time.... the graphics were cool..and he still thinks it's one of his favorite games but Sin was too easy to beat...

Are there any other games that are similar to that one on Playstation 2 that I could get for him as a gift? ;)

Thanks for your help..

I only tried the demo, that was cool kinda like FF Vll with better graphics :thumb:

If you're looking for a new RPG for the PS2, here are a few games that have already been released ... I'll advise you to test 'em before you buy anything (or at least get your hands on a review ;) ), since most RPGs for the PS2 isn't that exciting (which incidently shows in their review-scores)

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
Dark Cloud
Eternal Ring
Grandia ll
Orphen
Shadow Hearts

FFXll should be released in Japan around dec 2002, which makes for a spring release in the US and Europe. You can start gettin' excited now, coz Square rarely misses (if ever) with their RPGs .... Definitely the best around ... Also coming this fall is Breath of Fire V

Finally I will advise you to run out and buy both FF Vll & FF Vlll for the PS1. Even if they were made on a inferior machine, they are actually better & more involving than most RPGs you'll find out there ... and they have 100+ hours of gameplay each. These games are already being hailed as classics by the RPG gaming community :)

Hope any of this helped

Wow Smurf!! Thanks for the suggestions! I'll look ito getting the other Final Fantasies first.. Joe really was sad when he finished the game... I'm sure he'd love the others! And I'll definatly buy him the new one when it comes out... I'll have to give him the list that you provided of the others.. he was never much into RPG until this one.. so I bet he'll find it a nice change... (usually just plays first person shooter games)..

Thanks again, Smurfy! :*

NP :) ... BTW you should be able to pick up both FF Vll & Vlll cheap, since they are both Platinum titles, that means at least half price of new released PS1 titles ... and you can tell Joe to get excited about 'em (especially FF Vll is kick @ss and loooooooooooooooooooooong :D )

A fantastic game. I'm on my second run through. Sin was easy to beat, Jecht was a little harder. I had trouble defeating him the first time round. Yu Yevon was a piece of cake.

The second time around I've managed to get most of my ultimate weapons and all the Aeons. The Magus Sisters, Yojimbo and Anima are awesome.

I wasted Omega Weapon with them. I managed to get Yojimbo to slash him in two!

Sin and Jecht are going down again sometime in the next few days and with my ultimate weapons and powerful Aeons, they don't stand a chance. They'll be gone in a couple of minutes! :D

Amazing graphics and engaging story line. Disappointing ending though. Didn't have the feel good quality of FF8.

Getting Tidus's weapon seems like an impossibility though. I just can't get my Chocobo Race time under 0 seconds! :argh: Spent about an hour last night trying to beat it but continually missed out by one balloon!

Smurf, I have purchased a copy of 4 and 5 but have not yet played them. I rented 6 out from the shop but when I tried to save the game onto my Play Station 2 memory card the game rejected it and said I had no memory card inserted! :( I hope this is not usually the case with Play Station 1 games.

It isn't Recker, AFAIK only 1-2 PS1 games are incompatible with the PS2 ... It could be the memcard. Have you trid any other mem cards ?? Is it a standard 8mb card ??

Recker you should also give FF Vll & Vlll a go, they are easily the best of the FF series ;)

It was a standard PS 1 game and I have a standard PS2 8 mb card in my machine. I will have to try it with one of my other PS1 games, just haven't got around to it yet.

I have played VII and VIII. In fact I have a copy of VIII and have mastered that one. It is definitely my favourite.

By the way I totally obliterated Sin last night. He never even got an attack in. Anima destroyed him each time with a couple of bites! Seymour is next on the hit list! :sneaky:

I only played VII on PC - but would love to get my hands on FFX. Sadly it will be a while before it gets to that platform - if ever  Do you know if VIII is on PC? Sounds very interesting!

Why yes it is Harket, my friend played it on his computer. I also am a HUGE fan of the ff series. I have played FF 8 three times, I got to disc three twice and disc four once, but my game data was lost or my Playstation was broke. I hope this time nothing happens to my memory card. I am buying FF 7 in two weeks.

FF on the PC? That's a new one on me. I've never seen it as a PC game, but I guess it may be.

While I Haven't beat X yet, I think It's a great game. But My Personal Faves are VIII & IX. I Finally got around to beating VIII after 3 long years of saving over my files and trying to beat Ultimecia's candy ass into submission and I got it all on tape:D .Ironicly now I can pretty much whip her without even trying.

Hey PJ, good to see you. VIII will always be my favourite. I just love the ending too, it leaves you feeling good afterwards. Not like X's ending, which I'm sure you will get to see some time soon.

In X I whipped Jecht's butt in a couple of hits from Anima. My Eeons were just too darn powerful for him! The only negative thing was I had to fight my own Eeons afterwards, which was a bit precarious, especially when I had to take on the Magus Sisters! Thank God for Auron and his ultimate weapon and the "Auto Haste" skill I attached to his armour!
