View Full Version : Is Michael Jackson Being Treated Unfairly?

Most of you have heard about the latest on Michael Jackson's feud with Sony Music. Do you feel that the record company did not try their best at promoting his album "Invincible" or is it just Michael trying to get some press attention?

Personally, I think all of this is just a last-ditch attempt on Michael's part to be a relevant figure in today's world.

I voted 'no' on the grounds that:
- $25 million in promotion sounds kinda high to me
- he refused to tour to promote the CD
- Sept. 11 happened right in the middle of all this, and
- it's very hard to look credible standing next to Al Sharpton.

But now I've read that Sony is fighting with him over money and could be underpromoting in an effort to dump him. I don't believe that's outside possibility because I don't put anything past record companies. Sony isn't high in my good books right now to begin with due to that copy protection debacle; how much did they spend coming up with that...

so that might be enough to have pushed my vote at least to 'other'.

Who Cares! Just another atempt by the freak to get some attention.

I am not concerned with this problem between Michael and Sony. I lost interest in him about 10 years ago.

Frankly, I don't care. His time has come and gone, "give it a rest Michael!".

Depends on the P.O.V. - I actually think that Sony seemed to rely on MJ's releases as a kind of "self selling-product", so they had cutted down their efforts in advertising his last release probably a bit too much. Given the fact that his last really new album was released over a decade ago, this might have been a fatal mistake.

On the other hand, MJ didn't strained himself too heavy with keeping up a good reputation - the accusations of being a children molester surely didn't help much to his 'clean' image. And his general behaviour is...weird, but okay, probably I can't understand this because I'm no alien from outerspace...

And - he is undoubtedly a good musician, but "Invincible" is sounding to me pretty much oldfashioned, in comparision to all the other 'hip' acts from the R'n'B genre.

So...there might be some truth behind his outcry, but I can't shake off the feeling that he is just trying to get some attention again.

Why doesn't the little freak just buy Sony music? I mean, God, it's like listening to Bill Gates whine that he lost 5 billion in the stock market, and now he's only got 35 billion left to somehow try and scrounge a living out of. Yeah little freaky dude, you and those baseball players who make 2.5 million a year on average - I'm losing sleep at night over how un-freakin'-fairly you're being treated!

Man, life...it just sucks dude. :goofy:

Like most people on here have said already, it is a last ditch attempt for Jacko to get some attention. Jacko needs to accept the fact, that his days of being the "King of Pop" are over, and he hasn't done that yet. A lot of other artists out there have accepted that their days of fame are gone, and Jacko needs to do the same.

Amen to that brother! Who really cares about Jackson anymore. He's made his millions and he's just not that bankable anymore.

I don't know if it's a plea for attention (what, that big ugly statue of you floating on rivers in Europe wasn't enough?), but I grew SO TIRED of Michael from 'Bad' (he was kidding right?), then that fiasco with 'Black or White' and suddenly editing out all that stupidity with the smashing of the car, then thinking he was Jesus, then suddenly marrying Elvis and trying to prove it by making out in front of any camera he can get on, then paying who-knows-how-many-people to have his babies.... just too weird and out of touch with reality. Interest level: 0. Then I turned the channel.

So it's a Sony thing? Yawn.

Just how much attention should a pedophile get anyway? The only attention he should get is from irate neighbors who want to keep that freak away from their children. That little dirt bag should go register in hi neighborhood as a sex offender and then go hide far, far away where fathers of small children won't find him in order to beat the living $hit out of him.

I know, I am much too shy and should really form an opinion about this subject, huh?

No, Michael is just trying to get some attention.
He is not in the spot light anymore so he had to do something to get our attention.
I really liked Michael in the 80's and some of his music was okay in the 90's but he is just not doing anything new.. it all sounds the same to me now.

I agree 80s.
There wouldnt be any of this commotion if he could write a halfway decent album.

Who cares, I lost interest.

He keeps getting weirder and weirder....

Did you see that video about ghosts or something where he was some fat old white guy? :yikes: I watched the first 2 minutes, I think. And then there was one where he tried to play a bad ass in a bar and his 'crew' dance-fought the other guys.

If he wants to be in a fluckin' movie, why not just create a movie studio? Then when that bombs, he can take his candy ass off to Neverland and screw his llamas in peace.

Dude, you said it all! That was hilarious... I almost pissed myself!

I can't believe that Michael thinks that ANY publicity at the point in his life will have a positive outcome! What an idiot!

He was pretty funny in MIBII, though ;)

The record company's job is to sell records, not to prop up Michael's ego. Frankly, I'm surprised he even still has a recording contract.
If he wants to get mad at someone about his vanishing career, he might want to start with his plastic surgeon! :D

 You can't blame the plastic surgeon, there's only so many times he/she can restructure the same body part!

He's just looking for attention by attempting to create a scandal. If we leave him alone, maybe he'll go away.

I must admit that Michael made pretty good music back in the 70's and 80's, but now he just is a complete alien. He needs to give it up.
