Casy was OK. But Mike was the best. I like Raphael too. He's like the cool independant turtle.

Here's a thought...if you were a turtle, which would you be? You got Leo the leader, Mike the party animal, Donatello the creative, or Raphael the independant?

I think I got a little of all of 'em actually...I'm Leomikatellophael! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/eek.gif

Depends how I feel. But for sure I wouldn't be Dona or Leo. Not much of a leader or an intellectual. At times I'm a huge party animal and others major independant. I have a big problem with authority too, just like Raph.

Wasn't this mainly a '90s toon? I know it obviously started out in the '80s, but the run of this series and the craze seemed to be mainly in the '90s.

My favorite was Michael Angelo.

I loved all those guys. It did go into the 90s, that's when I watched them, but I watched them in my few years in the 80s too. We used to make jokes about our chickens going to Demention X when they died.

I remember in the late 80s reading some of the comic book series which was quite dark and serious. The cartoon series and movies made it too light hearted and childish. The original comic book I don't believe was aimed at kids.

I would say I was a cross between Donatallo, Raphael and Leonardo. "Raphatalleo" That's me.

I wasn't an avid watcher of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", but I did watch every now and then. This was a huge craze and merchandising giant in the 80's!! You couldn't escape it, it was on television, at your local cinemas, on video games, and in retail! I thought the show was average, but then I was already a senior in high school. :)

Heroes in a half-shell.... turtle power!

I was in seventh grade when the show came on the air, but I always made time to watch it (with the curtains pulled, all by myself, in secret!! ;) ) The theme song rocked, and plagues me to this day.

They're the world's most fearsome fighting teens!
They're heroes in a half-shell, and they're green!
When the evil Shredder attacks,
these turtle boys won't cut him no slack!

It was both '80s and '90s. It did air more in the '90s though, considerably into the '90s because I remember this was very popular when I was in high school. It aired until about 1994 or 1995, around the time Power Rangers became popular with the kids. Even though it aired more in the '90s, I think it should be categorized as an '80s show.

TMNT was the only kid craze of the '90s that I ever thought was any good, and it actually having origins in the late '80s explains that one completely. The '80s had the best kid crazes, and TMNT was the last great '80s kid craze. Lot of us mid '90s high schoolers secretly loved this show back then, even though we were in high school, because we knew it was really an '80s kid show. I remember the show came out when I was around 10 or 11 in the very late '80s anyway.

Oh man! I used to watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. For the longest time, I thought the Rat guy that was their mentor was a wolf. Don't ask why. Oh, me and the turtles had lots of things in common: we both liked PIZZA. :D

They weren't allowed to be called ninja's in the UK and they were known as Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles instead. My favourite was Donatello. Does anybody remember playing the arcade game?

That's bizarre. Any idea why? (Doesn't quite have the same ring to it if you ask me.)

I saw the first two movies, and was a loyal viewer of the cartoon!

Actually, TMNT premiered way back in 1985!!!

The show lasted for, I think 11 years before it was finally cancelled.

Though, you are right about the craze escalating in the '90's...the first movie came out in 1990. (I saw it for my 9th birthday!):D

So true Recker, it was more dark and bleak, and people actually died, and there were no BeBop or RockSteady, it was way better than the cartoon :)
There we're also a few other differences between the comic & cartoon. Stuff like how the turtles & Splinter we're transformed.
Raphael was the best fighter of the bunch, there's even a passage with him training which bares some resemblance to Bruce Lee...
If memory serves, 4 books we're published, which basically was the story from the film. I'm not sure who made it...I think it was some guys named Laird & Bird :)
