View Full Version : Denmark vs. France (Result will be inside)
It's judgement day in Korea! Denmark face France in about 4 1/2 hours in a match that can put either team on a plane home.
France with their backs against the wall has to win with a least two goals, Denmark could do with a 0-1 defeat and still make it to the 1/8 finals. Easy? No way......... This is gonna be some nervewrecking 90 minutes, but hopefully I can return here after the match with a happy face :D
GO DENMARK!!!!
I am going to cry my eyes out if we lose. I want to see us at least tie with the French. We played so well in the first game. I hope we can repeat that. I will be a nervous wreck for 90 minutes.
djdaffy1227 6-10-02, 10:28 PM GO DENMARK!!! see what you people are doing to me? I have World cup fever. I stay up until 4:30 in the morning watching it, even if the US isn't playing....who knew soccer was so fun to watch??? (I mean besides all of you)

space-invader 6-11-02, 09:55 AM le france....le hopeless

Greenway88 6-11-02, 10:05 AM Congratulations, Danes. I haven't quite caught the fever like DJ, but I am enjoying the World Cup. Thanks to those who made this discussion a part of the Xchange, especially space-invader, Harket, PreFab, Smurf, Pippi and the rest of you crazy football fans!
That was such a good result and a great game. I am glad that Daffy and Greenway is suffering from footballitis too. :)

BTW, those are funny commercials. I like the bald ref (are they called referees in football?).
Prefab Sprouter 6-11-02, 11:19 AM Yeah France deserved to go and good riddance to them! Looks like Ireland will face Spain in the next round. I'm not confident about that especially with Raul up front for th eSpanish! Still we can always be optimistic!
Congratulations, Denmark!!:D I knew you guys could pull this one off:thumb: What a better way to finish off a team than with a shut-out:thumb:
Though I'm curious about the referees. I've noticed for every game there are referees from neutral countries officiating the game. Here's my question: Are they required to be multi-lingual (in this case 3 languages) to be able to officiate due to communicating with the players on both teams plus the host nation (possibly to summon the medics for an injured player)?

Way ahead of you ;)
Been wearing a red/green raglan sleeve all day :D
Congratulations to Ireland, just remember Prefab, that the trophy is ours ;)
David; I honestly dunno if the ref's are required to be multi/bilingual ... Most of the time the international language of pushing, yelling and flippin' the bird seem to work just fine anyway ;)
I could imagine, that a ref is required to speak at least one major language, as he sometimes has to warn players without showing any cards
I recently watched a documentry on the World Cup. All the referees are required to communicate in English.

I'll bet the French are going: "Why not French!"
Prefab Sprouter 6-12-02, 05:38 AM Wasnt French the language that Diplomats used to communicate during Negotiations etc. Mind you Harket, that statement is sooo true of some French people!!!

Thanks for the tip, Pippi:thumb: Definitely an interesting tidbit of information. With all of the different languages, having one universal language to communicate in definitely makes the referees' jobs a lot easier:)
