MelodicRock.com have been digging to get to the bottom of the rumors regarding the demise of AEROSMITH. One of their contacts has supplied the following details. Apparently the very latest tension stems from Brad Whitford and Joey Kramer not wanting to "sell out" and perform with rappers, Britney, NSync, Mary J Blige and whoever else and just stick to rock and roll. Steven Tyler is the one, along with some backing from Joe Perry, that keeps the band in the "pop" scene. It seems the recent MTV Icons show was the icing on the cake, with one band member stating the absolute obvious, claiming the band has nothing in common with the people they did the Icons show with... and that he hated every minute of that. It's no secret that there is a great deal of tension within the band but the one thing they all agree on is that they need each other to remain successful and to continue to make money. This is the single common factor that will hold the band together for a little longer yet. They know this and are smart enough to deal with the other issues behind the scenes. In related news, according to their website, www.aeroforceone.com, Aerosmith will begin another tour this summer. VH1 continue to compile footage for their upcoming Behind The Music special on the band, set to air in July. Over the last couple weeks camera crews caught up with old managers and producers; they once again sat down with Joey Kramer and they spent five hours with Steven Tyler and his wife Teresa. Finally, their upcoming Greatest Hits collection, due out on June 25th through Columbia, has the following tracklisting: CD1 - 'Mama Kin', 'Dream On', 'Same Old Song And Dance', 'Seasons Of Wither', 'Walk This Way', 'Big Ten Inch Record', 'Sweet Emotion', 'Last Child', 'Back In The Saddle', 'Draw The Line' (remix), 'Dude (Looks Like A Lady)', 'Angel', 'Rag Doll', 'Janie's Got A Gun', 'Love In An Elevator' and 'What It Takes'. CD2 - 'The Other Side', 'Livin' on the Edge', 'Cryin'', 'Amazing', 'Deuces Are Wild', 'Crazy', 'Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees)', 'Pink' (South Beach remix), 'I Don't Want To Miss a Thing', 'Jaded', 'Just Push Play' (radio remix), 'Walk This Way', 'Girls of Summer' (new) and 'Lay It Down' (new).

I will get alot of :hammer: for this but Steve Tyler knows that the times have changed and so he is trying to reach out to other "group" of fans.

My two cents.. so don't be harsh! My opinion :hammer:

Not going to be harsh at all....but as a musician who's made more money than he'll ever need, there was no reason for Tyler to turn the band into musical prostitutes, bedding down with any act that comes along.

There's a thing called musical integrity, and Tyler lost his some time ago. Times have changed for everyone, but you won't see Maiden doing a song with N*Sync any time soon. They still pack arenas playing what they've always played....and staying true to themselves and their fans.

Kudos to Whitford and Kramer for having some pride.

Well maybe he has changed his taste in music. He might need to hang out with the young crowd to feel young again. What ever it is I am sure he has a good reason.
Either way I love them and always will even if they do a duet with the Back Street Boys.. I am a fan !!!

Couldn't agree more...it was really strange to see Aerosmith perform with NSYNC and Nelly, etc...and at the Icon show, Brad and Joey were right...they had very little in common with the performers there who were singing their songs. But they had to sit there and give comments after the performances like they thought it was great.

Sort of like Anastasia and Celine Dion singing "You Shook Me All Night Long", huh? Or the Dixie Chicks singing "Love Is A Battlefield"? :hammer:

Well said Pagan! It pains me to no end to see/hear this happening...I have a huge problem with kick ass songs being used in commercials too!!!

I normally can't sat much in the rock topics, but I liked Aerosmith better when they made music for themselves. The radio friendly pop-rock is too boring and predictable.

I think maybe Steven Tyler is trying to bring back the magic of the Run-DMC teaming of 1986. That was a breakthrough that will never be equaled.....my opinion is just stick to Aerosmith not Britney. Of course I thought their 70's stuff kicked their 80's stuff up the arse.

Ditto! Here all this time I was thinking it was the whole band that was calling the shots. After seeing that Super Bowl performance, my liking of Aerosmith had diminished. At least we know the truth now.

Youth must be served, the old saying goes.

It's nice to see that at least 2 of them want to buck that credo.

P.S,

Celine Dion covering AC/DC...Pagan and Christine, you gotta tell me that's a joke. It isn't true...is it?

Sincerely,

Unfortunately John....it IS true. She did it on VH1's "Divas" special. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!

Think I'm glad I missed that cover!!!! LOL Can't picture Celine Dion doing Aerosmith. Just wish they'd go back to the classic Aerosmith sound that was so incredible.

Just found out that playing on the summer bill with Aerosmith will be..Kid Rock and Run DMC.....
So I wonder what kind of interband skirmish took place to enable this too happen...It is such a step into the wayback machine for them.
I know they are quite capable of forging new ground. and it breaks my Bostonian bred heart to see my fellow Comm. Avers..fall into the depths of sell out hell:cry:
