View Full Version : Punk or Goth cultleader 5-28-02, 05:34 PM I just did this to see how many Punks and Goths we have here, just consider this like an underground censis(sp)or something. djdaffy1227 5-28-02, 06:41 PM I wouldn't call myself a punk (far from it actually), but I like punk music better than goth. Shortie Blonde 5-28-02, 06:48 PM PUNK PUNK PUNK PUNK PUNK PUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PUNK FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pippi 5-28-02, 08:01 PM I have been closer to goth than punk. My way of rebelling was a little more dark and morbid. Iluvthe80s 5-28-02, 09:05 PM I am a lover of all forms of music (especially 80's). If I have to choose which I prefer more it would be Goth. I really like Punk as well though. space-invader 5-29-02, 05:27 AM i tend to like punk more than goth (90's punk especially) been meaning to give goth a bit more of a listen but haven't got around to it Darkmatter 6-04-02, 01:00 PM Goth here... black as pitch, black as night DC Rebel 6-04-02, 02:08 PM I would have to side with the Goths. BlitzKid 6-05-02, 07:43 AM I like both music styles, probably listen to more punk then goth, but when it comes to styling, I like it dark and velvet :) Therrall 6-06-02, 07:34 PM Originally posted by BlitzKid when it comes to styling, I like it dark and velvet :) Originally posted by Pippi My way of rebelling was a little more dark and morbid. ImSoooSure 6-16-02, 06:36 PM Ha! My vote brings the punks into the lead!:D I was never a punk but I always thought 80s punk guys were so cute.:naughty: Prefab Sprouter 6-18-02, 07:31 AM I've redressed the balance! I voted for Goth cos I would have been a Goth rather than a Punk! Shortie Blonde 6-24-02, 05:52 PM Originally posted by ImSoooSure Ha! I always thought (and still do) that Nicolas Cage was such a cute punk as Randy in Valley Girl! Rhelawen 3-25-03, 05:30 PM Oh, most definitely goth. Ted Nugent 3-25-03, 06:49 PM Can I be both? lol. I like punk music better and I dress more on the punk side but as for state of mind, definately goth. I heard the term 'Horror punk' used before, I think that fits me. However, I'm a natural born metalhead at heart. :banger: I don't like labels anyway. gently69 3-26-03, 10:09 AM I prefer Goth!!! :vampire: Bogie 3-31-03, 09:22 AM Hmm...both really but since I could pick only one, had to go with Goth. The 80s was a great time for both genres....particularly the early to mid. cultleader 4-02-03, 08:33 AM Damn,I forgot I even started this.Kinda cool when old topics rise from the tomb so to speak. Slayergrrl 4-02-03, 12:59 PM Had to go with Goth. I wore all black, but i was a little of both. Anti-establishment and Dark all at the same time. :) wavemaster 4-02-03, 07:47 PM Well, I'm more inclined to Gothic music than to Punk Rock...if it's Punk, then I prefer "Oldschool" like The Clash or German stuff like Die Toten Hosen and Die Ärzte. With my outfit...100% normal, I'm afraid. :D XXX 4-03-03, 09:48 PM I like both genres, but I'll go with Goth on this one since they had more use of keyboards and could play their instruments a little better:p Marius 5-11-03, 12:03 PM GOTH, no doubt about it. Marius' BlueMolly2001 5-11-03, 02:59 PM I love both genres, but I went with punk. outofplacechild 5-11-03, 04:16 PM Goth... My entire being, to quote "The Big Lebowski", is "as dark as a coyote's asshole on a moonless prarie night". Besides that, I have too much respect for the establishment to ever be a punk. I did write a punk song, though...It's a spoof of typical punk rock sentiments. It can be found here... http://snlyou.jt.org/archives/02ijeffgordon/punk.phtml It's part of a sketch where I bash Avril Lavigne's musical abilities. When I agree with her saying she's a better punker than I am, that's just sarcasm. Of course, I don't agree with any of the sentiments I posted in the song, but having heard and seen enough punk rockers, I think I got it pretty much on target. Sincerely, John "outofplacechild" Kilduff cultleader 5-22-03, 02:42 PM OK,just for the record......Avril Lavigne IS NOT PUNK!!!Their is nothing even remotely punk about that little pop princess. Ok,I'm done!!:D :D :D outofplacechild 5-22-03, 10:08 PM Oh, I know, cultleader... I was making fun of Avril Lavigne, and supposedly showing her how a punk is supposed to act. Sincerely, John "outofplacechild" Kilduff Greenway88 5-23-03, 03:53 PM Somebody dye my surfer swoosh black. I prefer Goth! RivenBorn 5-26-03, 04:33 PM Goth only because I listen to it more. Punk was kind of tide in with goth and new wave by the 80s so I listen to a lot of the post punk stuff. hellkat 7-11-03, 03:33 PM Always Goth. The darker the better. Foreigner 10-10-03, 07:40 PM punk...but goth aint to far from it plan13 10-26-03, 09:12 AM Okay I went with punk... simply because I have played in "hardcore" punk bands in the past, and currently play in a "punk" band. But I never really saw the two as a seperated issue. I always loved Goth music and clothing styles just as much as Punk/Hardcore..... I kind of always felt that the term "Punk" encompassed anything that was different or "out of the norm". Consequently... for me Goth actually falls into a subcategory of "Punk" for example... I see Bauhaus or Christian Death as being "punk" bands falling under the subcategory of "goth" I see Uniform Choice or Youth Of Today as being "punk" bands falling into the subcategory of "hardcore", which then has a subcategory in itself of "straight edge" I see bands like The Ramones or The Groovie Ghoulies being "punk" bands falling into a subcategory of "punk rock" Basically "Punk" encompasses everything that is odd or different. Just my take on the things Belladonna 11-07-03, 03:10 AM Although I love my punk...Goth here. Just my take on the things That sounds about right. Vilji 3-14-04, 10:49 PM Punk could be the 'think for yourself, don't take sh*t from anyone, and goth adds some poetic soul searching. lol Bauhaus and Johnny Rotten are still two of my favorites. there's no way to choose one. Su-Z 4-28-04, 03:35 PM I had to go with Goth...The punk I do like is very select and few. Mostly I am yet another moody female...so .....:thumb: Monster246 5-21-04, 01:20 AM its all about goth baby... ! goth rocks... actully punk rocks too... but im a goth... PG 8-27-04, 08:46 PM Punk! And thanks to being a DC native, I got to see some REALLY great punk shows back in the 80's. :thumb: But I did like bands like Bauhaus, Siouxsie, The Cure, Xmal Deutschland & Cocteau Twins. I guess those are considered GOTH these days.... Eric T H 8-28-04, 10:52 AM I had to go with Punk but to my mind the 'real' punk experience happened in the 70's, by the time the 80's came around it had mellowed somewhat into New Wave. The 'Pistols' were no more and Sid was dead, and the Clash were experimenting with Dub reggae. Very few of the bands that were 'making a noise' when Punk started made it into the 80's, without having refined their sound. It was great whilst it was happening though. :bouncy: Su-Z 8-29-04, 09:24 AM :thumb: Defintely Goth... LOL Bet you guys thought I forgot about this place...well NO! I moved from New Mexico back to Texas. I am finally in a legit sized city. Dallas... For the women here...a new page if I am allowed to give my link http://groups.msn.com/SistersOfTwilight/yourwebpage.msnw spudsoup 8-29-04, 10:50 AM I love goth for the lyrics and the atmosphere it creates but sometimes man....you get in that mood and you put on "I wanna be sedated" and jump up and down on the couch. whistledog 9-13-04, 08:49 PM Punk all the way. I still love PIL and Killing Joke :thumb: 80's fanatic 4-18-05, 12:24 AM Punk for me Darkhaven 4-18-05, 09:28 PM Goth for me :vampire: Poindexter 5-05-05, 09:42 AM I have to go with Goth on this one. English_Warrior 3-25-06, 01:13 PM punk i guess, im a skinhead i get on with *some* punks I had to go with Punk but to my mind the 'real' punk experience happened in the 70's, by the time the 80's came around it had mellowed somewhat into New Wave. It was great whilst it was happening though. :bouncy: Oi street punk went on through the 1980s, and the "Oi/punk" type skinhead became popular, lads in drainpipe jeans/camo army trousers, union jack T-shirts/poloshirts and razorred heads would walk the streets, now its just these chavs, not many of us skinheads about now. cactus 7-10-06, 06:37 PM I'm more into Punk, not into Goth at all. Tempest Frost 1-11-07, 07:45 AM :apunk: Punk, baby! As soon as I become a vampire, you can sign me up at goth.com:lol: Livinginthe80's 1-11-07, 07:46 AM Punk for sure, i like The Exploited better than any other punk band. I respect real punks who have chosen the lifestyle. After listening to a lot of punk over the years i thought it to be very simplistic and quite clever and catchy. I have Goth friends and i used to go to Goth clubs in my 20's. The Goth music/ lifestyle doesn't grab me like the agressive, smash the system, anarcharistic stance that punk had. Nowadays i seem to think that both suffer from being simply teenage trends and their true cultural meanings are only being kept alive by the die-hards in the underground clubs. human clone 2-07-07, 02:47 PM Another vote for Goth here! I'm a big fan of Siouxsie, Bauhaus and The Cure. 80s hair 7-15-08, 08:32 AM I am far from a "punk" but that is what I vote!:mwaha: angelus04 8-05-08, 01:46 AM Definitely more goth than punk I listen to alot of goth-deathrock but then I also listen to alot of new wave, postpunk, horrorpunk, and psychobilly as well www.myspace.com/angelus1981 |
