Unfortunatey the litte town I live in will be featued on America's Most Wanted tonight. We have virtually no crime here too. There is a man namd Mark Volpa who started shooting at a streetsweeper Monday morning a few blocks from my store. A sherrifs deputy was in the area and he tried to stop Mark. Mark shot and killed the deputy, took his patrolcar and headed for the foothills. They had sherrifs deputies, highway patrol and local police searching for him. A few days ago he shot the police helicoptor. The helicptor was just minorly damaged and the people in it were fine. Then, a day after that he saw another deputy and shot at him. He is ok too. All of this was about 20 miles away from my house. Well, I guess he headed back down the hill and is in my area now. I can't even go home! :( They have our community blocked off with sherrifs, highway patrol, local police, swat... all carryng assult weapons. When my husband left the house they were searching everything! Now neither one of us can even get home. I wan't to see my dogs. Even more so I want them to finally catch this guy without anyone else getting killed. Keep your fingers crossed and tune in to AMW tonight if you want.

That is terrible. I really hope they get the guy, so you can go home. I will keep my fingers crossed that they get the guy without any more people getting hurt.

Geez, Lisa, that's awful! :( Will your dogs be OK for a few more hours, or do they expect you to stay away all night? Hope your quiet little neighborhood returns to being just that!

Lisa, that is terrible. I wish I could have saw AMW earlier, but i'm now just reading this. At least you and your husband are safe. I hope your dogs will be alright. I know I would be freaking if I couldn't get home to my cat because he is like my child.

Well, we got home a bit late but we got home! My doggies are my kids too. I felt like telling the sherrifs deputy at the blockade that I have youngsters alone at home and they need to escort them to us!:p
They finally found this guy after 6 days. A neighbor spotted him in a truck trailor behind their house. The authorities went there and tried to smoke him out but no luck. He finally tried to run and they shot and killed him this evening.
I guess AMW bumped our story when they heard about the Chandra Levy remains a few days after all this was happening around here. So, it will never air now I'm sure.
I'm just so glad they caught him. I am so sad for the sherrif deputy's wife and three girls though.:(

I am glad that they got him you are home safe and sound. It must be very unpleasant to be unable to get to your own house like that. I am glad it is all over and your community can be safe again. I hope you have a great Sunday tomorrow to make up for today. :) :)

Okay it totally sucked to be out of your home Lisa:( But its good to see that you, your family and the doggies are all safe and sound. :)

I am sorry for the Deputy and his family. I have some friends that are in Law Enforcement and things like this are always sad. People should really take the time to thank these people for what they do everyday.
