View Full Version : Top 500 80's songs
A local radio station is doing a top 500 80's songs countdown this weekend. It's voted on by people who live around here. They did this last year too. Can already tell there are some differences this year. "Pour Some Sugar On Me" by Def Lepperd was #1 last year. Monday I'll try to post the top on here. :)
80sSmurf 5-25-02, 07:19 AM Don't this station have net broadcasting ???? That would be so cool :p
wavemaster 5-25-02, 07:35 AM Last weekend (Whit Sunday), a bunch of German radio stations had featured countdowns - okay, they were not strictly 80s in most cases, but the songs of this decade were in the majority.
Jazzy, it would be nice if you can post all 500 positions here then... ;)
BTW (for the Europeans): I have switched to Jump, a station of the MDR. It is available via Satellite (ASTRA DIGITAL RADIO (19,2° East), ASTRA-Satellite frequency: 11 112 MHz horizontal (Transponder 43), digital subcarrier: Stereo 6,30 MHz (ADR-Satellite receiver required), or follow this link (http://www.jumpradio.de/) for a webcast (available for WMA and Real Player). You find these links on the upper right corner of the site ("On Air").
A good mixture of todays pop and 80s classics...that's why I have switched. ;)
Iluvthe80s 5-25-02, 09:56 AM Jazz, please tell us the list. (At least the top 100) I am curious to see what songs are on the list. My local 80's station is doing an all-request weekend which should be pretty cool!
I'll see what I can do about posting the list. I'll get a link to it on Monday. :)
ImSoooSure 5-25-02, 03:06 PM Oh I'd love to see a list. How fun! I'll have to listen to some of our local stations and see if they're doing anything fun.
I just went to the radio stations website. They don't have a list up on there yet. I'll keep checking though and post it when it goes up.
That would be a nice list. I always miss those countdown shows myself. Enjoy the show, Jazzmyn.
I've been checking all weekend and they haven't posted a list yet. If it's not there tomorrow, I'll call the station and ask if they'll post it. :)
helloman 5-28-02, 08:02 AM I miss all the great songs of the 80s that much. The most radio stations here have the same mix of up to date music.
Bronsky Beat, Grace Jones, Tina Turner, Supermax, SOS-band, Mel&Kim, Rare Earth, Fox the Fox, Grandmaster Flash and so many others.
I still remember the fantastic mixes from the madhouse-discothek in Hamburg as well. We had pre-releases on 12 inch vinyl for the discos and I enjoyed many sunrises with 240 Km/h (150mph) on the freeway/ the Autobahn. That was cool!

Good way to inform us about that
Jazzy... you're thrilling us... has not been posted that list yet?.
sketcher 5-28-02, 09:00 AM Oh if only I were a programmer! I'd love to see which 80s songs are the most popular among the members of this forum. I was thinking of searching the web for a cgi-script that can be used as a tally. Everyone can go to the site (I'll create) and write down all the songs they love in the 80s. It could be 20, 300, 5000. I don't care. Then we can tally up. Of course the results wouldn't be that accurate.
Here we go with the top 10 songs on the list.
10. You Spin Me Round - Dead or Alive
9. Rock Me Amadeus - Falco
8. Every Breath You Take - Police
7. Summer of '69 - Bryan Adams
6. Tainted Love - Soft Cell
5. Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie tyler
4. Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Leppard
3. Take On Me - A-ha
2. Hungry Like the Wolf - Duran2
1. Thriller - Michael Jackson
Here's a link to the entire list of 500 if you want to check it out.top 500 80's songs (http://www.mix1075portland.com/indextop500.html)
Oh they finished it eh? I only listened to a few hours of it. I still love Mix 107.5, but they play a little too much 90's.
I wish they were a little more diverse too. I hear too much of the top 40 hits and not enough B side.
Still, they are the only 80's radio station that Portland/Salem has.
Hey... its better than Rosie 105! (they suck)
helloman 5-30-02, 07:41 AM It was a 450SEL Benz automatic (not a tuned seat ibiza),
a great car, Guancho.
Some spanish friends told me in the late 80th, that in spain some guys in the
discos bet at late hour "driving using a motorway in the wrong direction".
I wasn`t shure if this was a joke, but that`s what they told me.
(And that each DJ`s only allowed to play music for one hour
When Falko was number two in the 80s,
the local radio station started the song with a car-crash intro......
(...and here comes the number two!)
I still have it on tape.

:( Unfortunately that was not a joke. The persons who do that are usually under the influence of the alcohol or/and drugs. The "late hour " in Spain is about 5-6 AM. I've never done it (I mean driving in the wrong direction in the motorway ;)), but my first car finished its days in a crash on the road coming home after a brutal disco night. I was younger, and quite more crazy than now.
(BTW, my first car was not exactly a tuned Seat Ibiza... but was something quite similar! ) If I had had your Mercedes surely I would have driven the whole motorway in the wrong direction!
