View Full Version : Double Anniversay Day! :)
Today, I have been married for 10 years. Every woman should be as lucky to know a man so good, let alone live with him. :) Don't get me wrong, he gets on my nerves sometimes, but he's 1/2 of what gets me up in the morning. :) The other 1/2 is my son, and everything else is a minor detail in my life. :)
Anniversary #2 is: It has been 18 months exactly since I quit smoking. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd actually quit, let alone start counting months!! Wooo Hooo!!! :)
 to me, because my hubby bought me 3 packs of wine coolers. Think he wants to get me drunk and take advantage of me? I hope so!! ;)
80sTrivia 5-21-02, 09:26 PM Well, Happy Anniversary, Val!!! It's nice to be able to celebrate something nice around here, for a change!!! And congrats for kicking the smoking habit successfully for 18 months!!! :)
Congratulations on both anniversaries, ValJ. It must be great to have shared so much of your life with that one special person.
I know how hard it is to quit smoking. I quit at new years day and it is very tough. 18 months is a great accomplishment. I hope I can get through the first year myself. Do you have any tips?
Iluvthe80s 5-21-02, 09:32 PM Congratulations! Those anniversaries are both great accomplishments! I really wish my boyfriend would consider quitting smoking. He has tried, but he always ends up going back.
Thanx, everyone! :) I got really lucky, finding him so soon in life...I am so grateful I didn't have to wade through a river of idiots to meet him. :)
Stacy, it is soooo hard to quit!! Just keep supporting him every time he tries. They say the average smoker tries to quit at least 5 times before they are successful. :) If he has tried before, he will try again.

Tips! Gladly! Try to stay away from smokers as much as possible for the first month. The first week is a breeze, it's the second week where the willpower starts to collapse. I gained 30 pounds, so DON'T!! take comfort in chocolate. When I started using Lifesavers and sugar free gum, my weight stabled and I started to lose it.
If you think you need help, use the Nicotine Gum. It helped the first time I tried to quit, but it was gross. LOL But they have new flavors now, so it should help some. This time I quit cold turkey, so I don't know if that made a difference or not. Hope you get some insight out of all that. ;)

I tried the gum, but it was horrible. I am staying away from bars, but it is tough, especially with a boyfriend who refuses to quit. The first weeks of January I caught myself sniffing his clothes and hair at night. Maybe quitting cold turkey is the best way.
It does not make it easier to sit here in front of the computer. I am used to smoke while surfing around, so sitting here browsing through all the great topics is very hard.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
Ten years is a great accomplishment these days. I'll be joining you in the 10 year club in September.:D It's so good to find the real thing isn't it. (I however was not nearly as fortunate as you were because I waded thru an ocean of idiots to get to what I have today  ) Congrats on the no smoking too! :thumb:
Now, go and enjoy those wine coolers, and everything that follows.;)
 :wildthing
Thanx, everyone. :) It hasn't always been easy, but it's always been educational.
Tina, me and the hubster celebrated 12 years of togetherness on Dec. 31st, but keep stickin' together!! You'll catch us! ;)
Smurf, my husband's name is Al. ;) I just think DD's honey is a cutie, so she lets me stare at him. ;)
abc, I met him when I was 14....I only dated a couple idiots after that. We got together just before I turned 17, that's why we're so young and have so many years under our belts. :) Congrats on your upcoming anniversary! Look on the bright side! Dating the idiots gave you the information you needed on what you didn't want, and the intelligence to grab hold when you found the one you did!! :D
Thanx again, everyone! :)
Congrats Val that is quite an accomplishment. Good job on the smoking thing as well!
LOSTNTHE80S 5-22-02, 03:29 PM Awww..congrats! We will be married 9 years next month. Isn't love grand?
And congrats on the smoking thing...I really haven't "smoked smoked" for about 5 years but I try to sneak a puff here or there if we are out somewhere. I average maybe 1 1/2 packs a YEAR... not too bad. I don't do it here at home...just if we are out and around the cigs anyway. You never lose that urge.
Anyway..congrats once again!
Congratulations on both anniversaries, Val!:thumb::D:dance:
Cheers on both occasions:cheers:
Yay Val!!!! Isn't it great to be nicotine free?! I just love it. It'll be 10 months for me tomorrow! Ten years! Wow!!! Greg and I are right behind you! :D Nine for us in July. :)
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry I'm late on this one.....
Val! That's Fantastic!! Congrats!! {{{{Hugs}}}} :D
Congratulations Val! Some great accomplishments. :D
