View Full Version : Ya know it just figures...
Sal Collaziano 12-13-00, 02:40 AM Hi all. I did something out of the ordinary today. I started my DRUMMING lessons! How cool.. I've never touched a drum before but I'm constantly drumming on things! My steering wheel, my shifter, my desk, my leg, my head. hehe Everything! So, I decided to go take a drumming lesson and see how I did. I figured I'd do well but the instructor was REALLY surprised! He said that it normally took months to do the things I was doing today. My rythmn was near perfect. The sad thing is, I think I could have been a really good drummer if I had started early. It's PROBABLY something my Father would have even been cool with since he was a drummer. Is it too late for me to start now? I'm 29 years old. How long would it take for me to be good enough for a band? That would be so cool.. I wonder if it could ever happen...

Roemello 12-13-00, 05:20 PM Well, I don't know if it's too late or not for getting into the music biz or your chances...that's a question best posed to Pagan. Even if you don't make anything of it, it's nice to have a musical hobby. My instrument of choice is the keyboard (or synthesizer as they were in the 80's http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif ). I can play songs by ear...weird natural skill of mine. Never had piano lessons, but you wouldn't know it the way I play.
As for the bellydancing....I agree with Sal, picures! I went out with a girl who could do some pretty funky bellydancing...mesmorizing http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//icon20.gif http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif

morningmyst 12-13-00, 08:11 PM Jazzmyn, I remember when I did belly dancing. (Before Kids) It is a great way to exercise, and you can do some amazing moves. Believe it or not, I was able to roll a quarter across my stomach. Now, forget about it. I need to find someplace up here to get back in it.
Sal, GO FOR IT!!! If you like it, do it!

Sal, it's never too late to start playing an instrument. As for how long it will take before you can be good enough for a band, well....that's up to you. It also depends on what kind of band you want to get into. You're not going to be ready for Dream Theater in a year or two! However, when you think about it, bands like Poison, Warrant, Dokken, Ratt, etc., their drummers aren't making anyone do doubletakes. Ringo Starr never won any "best drummer" awards either. Nor did Charlie Watts. It all depends on what kind of music you're going to play. Just stick with it, move at your own pace, and see what develops.

Sal Collaziano 12-22-00, 03:36 PM Thanks, Reagan. I'm really glad the site is moving along fast. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif And Pagan, that makes plenty of sense.. I don't expect to be an incredible drummer. But maybe good enough to get in a cool band. Thank would be nice.. My favorite kind of drumming is... Death Metal drumming! heh, not very marketable right now, right? http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//tongue.gif
